Low Water Gardening Resources

Information & Resource List for Low Water Gardening

We all need to think about conserving water because there is not a bottomless supply of this essential life sustaining resource. Pure clean water is becoming harder and harder to come by for some us right here in this country right now today. This is a reality that everyone needs to know and think about. A high percentage of our food is grown in areas that are suffering from drought conditions so even if you don't live in these areas you will be affected by higher prices at the grocery store. Yes this is a global issue but let's keep it local and address where a few changes can have a big effect such as our landscapes. One of the first places that conservation shows is in our yards either by choice or forced by local water municipalities. Think dead lawns, suffering brown edged trees and shrubs and no colorful annuals. This is a reality when you have to make a choice between washing laundry, dishes or yourself and turning on the sprinklers. So much can be done today to start decreasing our water consumption in the landscape that is fairly easy and economical but still provides a beautiful and enjoyable yard. Let's get started with the below information on planning a resource friendly landscape. Knowledge is power!
